As you may know, John, a twenty-year member of Los Amigos de los Niños, tragically passed away this week. A tribute to John was held on the beach at Posada Concepción. It was attended by many of his friends and relatives, demonstrating how well John was liked. After the proceedings, there was a discussion among members of LADLN about finding a way to honor John and preserve his memory. The idea was floated to establish a scholarship in his name. Please remember that Mulegé students have to pay to go to high school. The cost is 2,000 pesos a year, which is not high by gringo standards, but a burden to local families. A small donation of a few dollars by many donors will go a long way.
